Why are you forcing Office subscribers to go through a painful process just to use Office? I already have a subscription and use it on my regular desktop.

If it works on android devices, it should work on Chromebooks. I can see how this could be an advantage to selling similar MS-manufactured devices, but at the same time they would be making plenty of money on subscriptions bought by Chromebook and Android users.

Let’s hope MS gets on-board and starts offering mobile on Chromebooks like they said they were going to. Don’t know if this will help anyone or not.

So I did a little googling and found out there was an issue with android apps running on Chrome being able to see sd cards and external drives.

I assume that that has something to do with the face the android part is running in a sandbox. I using FX file manager which also could not see the hard drive or the GB sd card on the system.

One of the articles I read said the Total Commander was able to see sd cards so I installed it and sure enough it could see the sd card and the hard drive.

Then the movie played fine. All of that got me to here. At that point I opened up my library in the Play Store to get rid of a couple of file managers I had tried to see if they would work also.

In the process I noticed that the install buttons had returned next to the Microsoft Office apps. So I installed all of them. I opened Excel signed into my account and all my info synced from OneDrive.

I opened each app and they updated with me logged into them and were updated with corresponding work from OneDrive. So somewhere in my messing around I triggered something that made things work or Microsoft and Google fixed the problem.

My guess it had something to do with installing Total Commander. I used it for nearly a full month on subscription when all of a sudden, I couldn’t get it to open and stay open.

To be honest I don’t see any added features by using my subscription on my Chromebook except it allows me to run it in the system with a Amy When all of this was originally going on I was watching it pretty hard waiting for a solution.

When it was finally announced that Microsoft had fixed the issue on there end I still had to to reset my Powerwash my Chromebook to get it working.

Not sure what the issue was that I had to do that. At that point I also quit using the Stable Channel and starting using the Beta.

Keep in mind that this is still only a mobile app and will not give you the full functionality of the desktop version. It is fine for the most part for viewing files, but there is some lost functionality between the mobile app and the desktop version.

For the most part I run a Linux based ecosystem which I have been using since the early 90s. I primarily use rolling distributions based mainly on Arch so I’m willing to run a little more bleeding edge than others might be.
